WARNING: Failure to adhere to these instructions or using the lights for unintended purposes can lead to electric shock, fire, serious injury, or prevent the lights from working properly. It also will void any warranty claim.
SAFETY INFORMATION:
This product is an electrical item and should be kept out of reach of children, particularly those under 3 years of age. Always
supervise children around these lights.
Handle with care. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be professionally replaced to avoid hazards.
Ensure the lights are unplugged before assembly, disassembly, or relocation to prevent electric shock.
Do not overload power boards, ensure you follow the manufacturers instructions for all power boards. Overloading power
boards can cause your lights to blow or stop working.
INSTALLATION WARNINGS:
• Installation should be performed by adults only.
• Avoid placing cords under doorways or windows, or anywhere they may be abraded or cut.
• Keep the transformer indoors or undercover, away from moisture, rain, or dew.
• Avoid exposing lights to direct heat, open flames, or submerging in water. Ensure bulbs do not come into contact
with flammable or meltable materials.
• Do not connect this light set to other electrical sets to prevent overloading and potential fires.
• Use only power boards that are fitted with both overload and surge protection. We recommend high-quality surge
protection for all outdoor and landscape lighting to safeguard against severe weather conditions.
• Do not modify, tamper with, or alter the lighting equipment in any way.
• Controllers are designed to resist minor rain exposure. In severe weather, turn off and protect the controller by
keeping it undercover.
SET UP / INSTALLATION:
• Test your home's safety switch and smoke detector to ensure they are operational.
• Ensure all outdoor connections are suitable for outdoor use and fully weatherproof.
• Carefully unpack and straighten out the lights without causing damage.
• Before connecting, ensure all nearby power outlets are switched off.
• Only use the transformer provided with the set.
• Handle all components gently, especially the insulated cables and LED bulbs, to minimize potential damage.
• Maintain a safe distance of at least 3 meters from overhead power lines.
• Wear appropriate safety gear and non-slip footwear when installing lights in high or difficult-to-reach places.
• Turn off the lights at the power outlet when not actively in use to conserve energy and enhance safety.
• Securely anchor the lights to withstand wind or adverse weather conditions.
• Use low-voltage equipment for safe attachment to metallic surfaces, fences, or roofs.
• Avoid installing lights directly above or around swimming pools.
• Do not lay extension cords where they might be a tripping hazard, such as across driveways or walking paths.
• For homes with fresh cut Christmas trees, always switch off and unplug lights when watering to avoid electrical
hazards.
Note: Warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper use or non-compliance with the provided instructions.
Overloading Power boards
Overloading power boards and not following the manufacturer's instructions can cause your lights to blow or stop working
due to several key reasons:
Circuit Overload: Power boards have a maximum capacity for electric current, measured in amperes (amps). When too many devices, like multiple sets of Christmas lights, are connected to a single power board, it can exceed this capacity. This overload can lead to excessive current flow, which may either trip a circuit breaker or blow a fuse, cutting off power to prevent damage.
Heat Build-Up: Overloading a power board can cause excessive heat. Prolonged heat can damage the insulation of the wiring
within both the power board and the lights, leading to short circuits. In severe cases, it could even cause the insulation to melt, exposing live wires and increasing the risk of electrical fires.
Voltage Drops: When a power board is overloaded, it can cause significant voltage drops. This means that the electrical
devices connected to it, including lights, receive less voltage than required. For delicate electronic components found in some modern Christmas lights (especially LED lights), this can lead to malfunction or complete failure.
Surge Damage: Not following the manufacturer's instructions regarding the use of surge protection can leave your lights
vulnerable to voltage spikes. Common during storms or power outages, these spikes can instantly damage or degrade the electronic components within the lights.
Wear and Tear: Improper use of power boards, such as continuously plugging in and unplugging devices, can wear out the connectors. This can lead to poor connections, resulting in flickering lights or eventual failure as the electrical connection becomes increasingly unreliable.
To avoid these issues, it’s important to:
• Use power boards that meet or exceed the required specifications for your lighting setup.
• Ensure that the total amperage of all plugged-in devices does not exceed the amperage rating of the power board.
• Use power boards with built-in surge protection, especially when installing lights outdoors or in areas prone to
electrical surges.
• Follow all specific guidelines provided by the manufacturer regarding the setup and maintenance of both the lights
and the power boards.
Storage of your indoor and outdoor lights
Proper storage of indoor and outdoor Christmas lights can significantly extend their lifespan. Here's a concise guide to storing your lights safely.
• Wipe down your lights to remove dirt or debris, especially important for outdoor lights.
• Check for and fix any damaged bulbs or frayed wires to prevent future problems.
• Carefully coil each string around a piece of cardboard, a large round jar or can, or a cable reel to prevent tangling and
wire damage.
• Wrap coiled lights in tissue paper or bubble wrap to protect bulbs from breaking.
• Use sturdy, airtight plastic bins to store your lights. These bins protect against moisture and pests and are easy to
stack.
• Lights must be stored in a cool, dry place like a closet or a climate-controlled room. Avoid attics or basements or
under house, where extreme or cool temperatures and humidity can cause damage.
• Following these steps will help protect your Christmas lights from damage and tangles, ensuring they are in good
condition for each festive season.
